Born near the border of Oklahoma and Texas in 1932 in the small rural town of Chillicothe, Texas, Robert Lopez Flynn was
raised in an environment greatly influenced by the American Southwestern culture. He is currently a professor and emeritus at
Trinity University. Over the years, Flynn has come out with twenty-three different short stories, novels and essays, all sharing the
common themes of love, hope, war, and Texan and American Southwestern culture. Flynn’s national best-selling novel, North to
Yesterday was the reason behind his rise to early fame.
Flynn’s work came with much appreciation. His work is known and enjoyed around the world and has been translated into
various different languages such as German, Spanish, Dutch, Hindi, Arabic, Afrikaans, Tamil, Kannada, and even Vietnamese.
Flynn has also won multiple awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, as well as from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. Flynn
was also unforgettably named one of the best books of the year by New York Times.
